Recently appointed Artistic Director of the LSSO, the American conductor/composer Peter Ash has held positions with Kammer-philharmonie Berlin and St. Petersburg Camerata. In the UK, he has worked with many orchestras including the RPO, BBC NOW, London Sinfonietta and SCO.

Ash is committed to broadening the boundaries of orchestral music for young people. He conducts the Centre for Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra and is Music Advisor to the Roald Dahl Foundation, for whom he has conducted many important
stage premieres including Tobias Picker's Fantastic Mr. Fox (1998) - at the LA Opera.

As composer/arranger, Ash has written for television and theatre.
He has also composed an opera, The Golden Ticket based on Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. He is currently working on a new opera, Keepers of the Night, to be premiered in Los Angeles in 2006.
