Malcolm Archer
Malcolm Archer was appointed Organist and Master
of the Choristers at Wells Cathedral in 1996, having previously been Organist
and Master of the Choristers at Bristol Cathedral and Assistant Organist at
Norwich Cathedral. He studied the organ with Ralph Downes, Gillian Weir
and Nicholas Kynaston, and has continued his organ studies in Paris with Daniel
Roth.
He has given organ recitals at many of the principal venues in Great Britain, as well as in the USA, Canada and nine European countries. He has recorded music as diverse as Bach, Messiaen, Howells and Hollins, and has broadcast on BBC Radio 3.
He is also a prolific composer, with around 200 published works, including many pieces written for the organ.
