Norwich( Born in 1952 in Lytham, Lancashire,
Malcolm Archer was educated at King Edward VII school.
He was awarded the R.J. Pitcher Organ Scholarship
at the Royal College of Music and later became Organ
Scholar at Jesus College, Cambridge. He studied
the organ with Ralph Downes, Gillian Weir and Nicholas
Kynaston. In 1976 he became Assistant Director
of Music at Magdalen College School, Oxford, and combined
this with the post of Assistant Organist at St. Clement
Danes Church and Hampstead Parish Church. In 1978,
he was appointed Assistant Organist at Norwich Cathedral,
where he has played for many broadcasts and recordings
with the choir. He has made first recordings of
organ works by Herbert Howells and Sir Lennox Berkeley,
and gives frequent recitals throughout Great Britain.
