JEREMY POLMEAR & DIANA AMBACHE
Jeremy Polmear and Diana Ambache
formed their duo in 1977 for a British Council tour
of India and Nepal. They have since
performed in Europe, Africa, and
China, and have toured South East Asia five times. British
appearances include regular recitals at the Wigmore
Hall and the Purcell Room. Their 1984 recording Morceaux
de Salon has recently been reissued by Meridian (Cassette
no. KE 77072).
Jeremy Polmear has specialised
in virtuoso oboe music of the 19th century. As an orchestral
player, recent appearances have included work with the
London Mozart Players, the Cambridge Symphony Orchestra,
the English Baroque orchestra, the Ambache Chamber Orchestra,
and the Philomusica of London. A graduate of Cambridge
University, his musical influences include the National
Youth Orchestra, Janet Craxton and Maurice Bourgue.
Diana Ambache is a Mozart specialist,
and has to dates performed 15 of the Mozart concerto
cycle. In 1984 she formed the Ambache Chamber Orchestra
and Ensemble, bringing together some of London's finest
chamber music players (three of their Mozart recordings
are currently available on Meridian). She studied on
scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music and subsequently
with Jeremy Siepmann.
