CANTICUM
In the ten years since its formation, Canticum has
established itself as one of the leading chamber choirs in the country.
As well as performing major works, the choir has gained a reputation
for exploring new areas of repertoire, with the first UK performance
of Michael Haydn's Requiem and the commissioning of two new works
in the 2000/2001 Season. In addition to their main season at the
Temple Church, they have performed Bach's Mass in B minor with the
Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment at St John's, Smith Square;
Mozart's Requiem with OAE at the Linbury Studio Theatre, Royal Opera
House, Covent Garden; and the London première of Richard
Rodney Bennett's The Glory and the Dream.
Recent projects include: an Italian tour, performing
in St Peter's and Santa Maria del Populo, Rome and Purcell's Dido
and Aeneas with the Orchestra da Camera di Orvieto at the Festival
of European Languages; and the Fauré Requiem with the City
of London Sinfonia.
