BBC BIG BAND
The BBC Big Band tours extensively
throughout the UK for radio concert presentations and
in its own concerts which include playing at festivals
and events around the world. They regularly feature
leading star singers and instrumentalists as guests.
These have included George Shearing, Mel Torme, Phil
Collins, Arturo Sandoval, Georgie Fame, Robert Palmer,
Ray Charles, Jeff Hooper, Cleo Laine and John Dankworth.
Recent overseas visits have included the USA, Canada
and numerous excursions into Europe.
REVIEWS
There is no other band in the
world today with such a diverse repertoire ranging from
the classics of the swing era through to contemporary
jazz and popular music. The bands' long running programme
'Big Band Special' can be heard each Monday on Radio
2. The BBC Big Band is truly beyond comparison - Great
